Black

Charm, bad luck, authority, mourning, mystery and power: black brings with it a multitude of meanings. In the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui, for example, it has the power to give harmony to the spaces in which we live and work. In the nineteenth century, Japanese painter Kurosai claimed in his manuals that there was an old black and a bright black, one illuminated by the sun and one as dark as a shadow. Another artist, the sculptor Anish Kapoor, gained the exclusive use of Vantablack in 2016, a type of black developed in the laboratory that absorbs 99.9% of light. According to the laws of physics, a similar chromatic experience could only be possible in a place where the force of gravity was strong enough to swallow even light. That place exists and, not surprisingly, it is called a black hole.
