 Contrasting the culture of hatred: UNHATE

Starts the worldwide communication campaign UNHATE, supported by Benetton Group.

Object: the aim of contrasting the culture of hatred and promoting closeness between peoples, faiths, cultures, and the peaceful understanding of each other’s motivations.

The central theme is the kiss, the most universal symbol of love, between world political and religious leaders.

Today, 16 November 2011, at 13:30 Alessandro Benetton, Executive Deputy Chairman of Benetton Group, presented, in a worldwide preview, the UNHATE campaign, which is the first initiative by the newly-formed foundation of the same name, in Paris, at the flagship store in Boulevard Haussmann.

Mr. Benetton declared: “At this moment in history, so full of major upheavals and equally large hopes, we have decided, through this campaign, to give widespread visibility to an ideal notion of tolerance and invite the citizens of every country to reflect on how hatred arises particularly from fear of ‘the other’ and of what is unfamiliar to us. Ours is a universal campaign, using instruments such as the internet, the world of social media, and artistic imagination, and it is unique, in that it calls the citizens of the world to action.”

The UNHATE communication project includes a series of coordinated initiatives and events, starting today in the main newspapers, periodicals and websites around the world.

 Wool and Love in the empire of the Rising Sun: Lana Sutra reaches Korea

The Lana Sutra art project was presented today in Seul: Erik Ravelo, the Cuban creator of the works, described to the guests the project which embodies the Benetton Group’s traditional and new values such as genuineness, a passion for art and a focus on the new world geography, held metaphorically together by the woollen thread and by colour, the two founding elements of United Colors of Benetton, an inclusive brand whose “personal” fashion is created by publicly bringing into play issues which involve everyone in the world, in a true-life style.  Benetton, increasingly social

500,000 fans on Facebook, 50% growth since the beginning of the year and a whole dedicated team: Benetton is using social networking more and more through targeted initiatives based on a precise communications strategy.

Tens of thousands of contacts on Facebook – with over 55 million post views since January 2011 – thanks to numerous offers: from pages dedicated to products, like Blue Denim, Valentine’s day and Personal styles, which allowed fans to post their favourite articles of clothing on their wall, to applications and games like Colours of you, and initiatives such as the I’m Unique child casting call or the launch of United Songs of Benetton, which let’s users listen to, download and share the tracks of the new CD Benetton Spring Summer 2011.

Benetton is becoming increasingly more social, exploiting all the Web’s tools and platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, You Tube and now, there’s United Blogs of Benetton.

 United songs of Benetton

United songs of Benetton is the Facebook application that let’s you listen, download and share the new electro-dance songs written exclusively for Benetton by Francesco Novara and collected in the Benetton Spring Summer 2001 compilation.
A collection released June 21st on the occasion of the European Music Festival, which is enormously successful: the perfect sound track for a colourful summer all for dancing.
You will find songs like “Wrong”, “The sound” or “Limit”, which were featured in Benetton’s latest spring/summer 2011 campaign… so what are you waiting for?
